One Community. One Background Check.

Everyone wants to live, work, and serve in a safe community. We go to great lengths to secure our homes, our schools, and our personal data.

To keep volunteers and participants safe, local organizations often have their own security measures, including background checks. While this precaution is responsible, it often puts a financial and operational burden on organizations.

It takes money, time, and effort to screen every new volunteer that walks through the door. Additionally, it can be cumbersome and time-consuming for individuals to fill out a new background check for every organization they volunteer with.

What if there was an easier way?

We need a faster, more innovative background check process. Village Creed offers "One Community, One Background Check". This is one criminal background check used across the platform between all organizations for the purpose of screening participants and volunteers. It's easy for both nonprofit organizations and individual volunteers.

On Village Creed's platform, your organization can choose whether participants and/or volunteers need a background check in order to join your events or volunteer with you. Individuals who already have a background check on file in Village Creed's platform can instantly join your events and opportunities.

Individuals without a background check on file will be prompted to begin the screening process through the company Checkr.

Background Check Process

Individuals will receive a summary of their rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and a disclosure, acknowledgment and authorization statement regarding the background check investigation. The individual will be directed to a billing page and charged $24.95 for the background check.

The individual will receive an email in their inbox asking them to start their background check within the next eight days.

When the individual clicks "Start Background Check" they will be redirected to the Checkr website to begin the process. They will be asked to fill out the following information:

Individuals will be asked to acknowledge a receipt of their rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) as well as to acknowledge Checkr's disclosure statement. Individuals will then be asked to authorize the background check with an electronic signature. Upon submission, individuals will be given a video showing them what to expect from their background check.

If an individual requests a copy of the report, Checkr will email them a PDF summary as soon as the background check is completed. These background checks will be kept on file for individuals for a two year period. After that time, they will need to request a new background check through the platform in order to join screened events and volunteer opportunities.

Making the Process Easier for You

How many times have you had to follow up with new volunteers and ask them to complete their background check? This can be a timely process for you, and it prevents you from utilizing the volunteers you desperately need! Through Village Creed's "One Community, One Background Check", your organization can cut down the costs, time, and hassle it takes to clear your volunteers.
